I've wanted to pursue working towards becoming a Mediator (in divorce cases, family matters, etc) for a long time but I am unsure about how to approach it. I live in California and from what I've read you don't have to have any official degree in Mediation in this state (although there is an optional 40 training course).
As a Mediator, how did you get into the field? What steps did you take to begin learning how to become a Mediator? How long did it take you to get experience and find work? Do you enjoy your job? Is being a Mediator a career that can support you (money wise)? Did you take a training course? If so, would you recommend a particular one over another (quality/reputation wise)?
Any personal experiences or opinions/advice for someone trying to get into the Mediation field would be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU!!!
