This is a question for people that travel on bikes, pedal bikes, that is.
Are you a bike chicken, or a bike pro?
I've seen some guys (and girls) traveling down a (2-mile) hill like 30 or 40 MPH,
some with (helmet) protection, and some without.
I've never had the nerve to travel down a steep slope anymore at that high rate of speed.
So, I'm a chicken.
Had a scary accident once, where I was going downhill very fast, and then the front tire
exploded (from landing on something sharp). The bike lost control and I went flying across
the handlebars, and then I slammed into the street (pavement).
By sheer luck, I only mildly scraped my knuckles upon landing, and came out of it with a
sore knee;
Amazingly, I did not hit my head in this mess, so I was very lucky, this time.
I was thinking, what if next time I'm not so lucky and I land the wrong way, and seriously
injure myself.
So, I'm a chicken.
I have a mountain bike.
For going fast, you need a motorcycle, they're more stable than pedal bikes,
(and they're more expensive.)
