Are Verizon's phones (U.S.) compatible with Rogers (Canada) contracts?

I currently have a contract with Rogers wireless (Canadian mobility provider).
I'm looking to buy a verizon cell phone off Ebay.
I know that not all phones are compatible with all companies but I would not like to change my number/plan
Does anyone know if the verizon phone will work with my rogers contract?

And If not, how can I unlock the phone. or smth?
