We were purchasing a used vehicle from a friend with an agreement that he would just keep it in his name to avoid any refinancing hassles. Every month the payment was made on time for thirteen months (with both checks and cash). There were also many witnesses (i.e. family members/friends/coworkers) who were not only aware of the agreement but also went along to pay the payment with me sometimes. This person then took the vehicle back because he decided he wanted it back. We received nothing for all the payments we had made. Am I legally able to sue in civil court to get some of my money back? The agreement was that we would pay the vehicle off and then transfer the title to our name. We were left without a vehicle, and out $4,300. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
