they are, but they are making it competitive for home students and a lot easier for foreign students

for foreign students they are charging as much as 6 times the normal amount you charge a home student in tuition.

At the moment, you wouldn't be able to go into uni without at least 3 Cs at A Level. For better courses you need 3Bs. The more ridiculously competitive courses and institutions are looking for As and A*s with brilliantly written personal statements, etc. They also wouldn't consider anything less - there are too many people with straight As for them to consider.

e.g.many institutions have turned down people applying for masters despite if they have the same grades and background in their degrees. Glossy, perfectly written personal statements would be of little help.

depends on the uni

some rubbishy ones will but the decent top unis like oxford and cambridge have still high standards but
