I can't speak for Hondas, but in the past twenty years I've owned several Toyotas, a few Fords, and two Saturns. The Toyotas are very, very different from the Fords & Saturns. With Toyotas, I have not replaced water pumps or power window motors or door lock switches or heater cores or radiators or fuel pumps, and I have done all of those things, and more, with my Fords and Saturns. One of my current Toyotas is a '94 Previa (mini van) with 269k miles on it, and it does leak a little oil and differential fluid, but that's pretty much all that's wrong with it. The Previa's first repair visit for something other than brakes, tires, and oil changes, involved replacing the side door hinge, and that was at 98k miles at age 4 years. My Saturns have better repair histories than the Fords, but the Saturns are still nothing to write home about, and dealer service on the Saturns is abysmal. The Fords, well, I won't ever set foot in a Ford dealership ever again; their products are very poorly designed. Ford's problems are somewhat workmanship related, but their main problem is poor design. Bottom line: Toyotas are on a completely different plane. I hear Hondas are on the same plane as Toyotas. Hope this helps.
