I bought a white 99 V6 mustang. The front bumper, fenders, side skirt, rear quarter panels, back bumper and wheels are painted this navy blue color. It almost looks like spray paint because the paint is fading and spotted up.
The idea I had in mind was:
1. Take off the front bumper, back bumper, fenders, and side skirts (leave the back quarter panels on because I dont know how to remove them.)
2. Sand the front bumper, back bumper, fenders, and side skirts. Then sand the quarter panels.
3. Spray gray Dupli-Color sandable primer on the front bumper, back bumper, fenders, side skirts, and rear quarter panel.
4. Then use a less gritty sandpaper to sand the primer.
5. Spray on Dupli-Color Gloss White Enamel paint onto the front bumper, back bumper, side skirts, fenders, and rear quarter panels.
6. Apply another coat (if needed).
7. Apply a Dupli-Color clear coat on the bumpers, side skirts, fenders, and quarter panels.
What grit should I use for sanding the blue paint off? What grit should I use for sanding the primer? Wouldnt I use more grit to get the paint off and then use a less grit to sand the primer?
Before I sand the blue paint off, i'm going to scrub the bumpers and stuff down with soap and water to get rid of the dirt and grease.
