What are the advantages of marriage opposed to a couple living together permanently? I don't mean the emotional side of things. I mean strictly financial benefits, if there are any. I'm not sure but I think I've heard of reduced taxes for a family, opposed to taxes for two separate individuals, even if they've become a family. Actually, when would a marriage certificate have to be presented? For cross-country travel maybe? And how about children, if a couple has one without being married, does it still take the name of the alleged father? Does the child get treated differently by institutions or schools for not having legally joined parents?
