Are there dangers in letting my son take electronics apart?

My 7 year old has a fascination with taking apart broken electronics. Is there anything in there that could hurt him? Are certain types of electronics better like..a calculator vs. computer tower? I don't want to inhibit him but I also don't want to shock him either. Thanks in advance. Sara
