are there any slim flip phones?

sorry if it is general - I know so little about those things, so I don't ask. I would just be using it in Canada and the US. No special requirements.

stand out in what way? i suppose you could one that is green, purple, or rainbow colours. there isn't really that much scope to make slim phones unique.

I don't want the same phone as everyone else has. I wanted the LG Shine until i heard the scroller was a headache. I wanted the 8801 (still on the fence) but the camera is really bad, as is the battery. I was going to get a U600 because it's so slim, but all samsungs look alike to me.
I have a z550a that I hate right now. I just want a phone that is unique. Maybe the Samsung is my best bet? I prefer flip or slide to candybar phones, otherwise I heard the Nokia 6300 was good. What other options can you suggest? thanks.

samsung tend to be among the better ones for build quality, so if i ever had to choose a slim phone, i would choose a samsung or possibly a motorola. SE's and nokias have a habit of falling to bits.
the u600 is samsung's flagship phone, so that model is definitely not for you because lots of people have them due to the fact that they are being promoted. it's also a slider. the shine range are also sliders (or theres a candybar model). the 8801 is also a slider. i thought you were wanting a clamshell?

you could try:
-nokia 7900 Prism (its a candybar, but it looks quite unique. well, unique for a candybar anyway)
-samsung l600
-samsung s730i
-motorola RAZR Z8

The lgs have some nice thin flips I know for instant verizon had the chocolate flip 8600 thats thin and now the 8700 so lg does have some slim flips out there that arent too bad but the samsungs are built good.

Im not a big fan of samsungs and motos...samsungs always seems like they're made of cheap plastic(not that they are just feels like it) and the motos are too slow...

i suggest you look at the nokia 6500slide and the sony ericsson s500(dont worry about the key problems they've been fixed) or if youre not in a rush the sony ericsson w910

GeminiIII i dont know which phones you've used or how you treat them but out of all my friends I've only ever known one person to need their SE serviced and that was after 2 years...dont know anyone who had problems with nokias either?I have had problems will keys breaking and falling off my SLVR and at least ? the people I know with razrs had problems?cant comment on Samsung though cause no one I know ever buys them?

i can show you tons who have had their SE serviced in one thread alone on this forum.
many of the recent nokias are not built very well either (nokia's recent admission of 46 million dodgy nokia batteries doesn't help the company image either).
i can tell you know that the motos and the samsungs are some of the better built phones without a doubt.
of course, every manufacturer has it's lemons. but some manufacturers have more lemons than others.

that has yet to be seen if you're referring to the silver keypad. i would doubt it because, as another poster has commented, the problem lies more in the design and materials. there have been lots of people sending their s500i away to SE, only to have a replacement that broke with a few days/weeks. then SE said that all the ones after week 27 were fixed, yet people with s500i that were made after week 27 are ending up with cracked keypads.

the problem is actually not in the "design" but in the paint...they might not have fixed the problem but it is not a design problem as (as far as i know) none of the yellow phones have been affected by this problem...

if it is a chemical reaction then a) why doesn't it crack in the box?, and b) why is it almost always the middle key that cracks?
that's a design problem.
yellow phones have been affected too, but there are far less of them sold. have a look in the SE forum here to find various examples. there have also been incidences of w580i's keys cracking within the first few days/weeks. you're not going to tell me they were a result of green paint are you? . they're not green.

ok so i just finished reading the ENTIRE thread...and maybe it was the wrong one...but there was NOT A SINGLE mention of keys being broken on anything other than the Black-Green s500i...please send link to the thread you are refering to...the one i read is below

maybe look into a moto krzr or lg 8600. the samsung u510, sph-m620 and a720 are pretty small as well. its all up to you. do you want a long phone or wide phone and is it just the size that concerns you or the features as well. hope you find one you like. good luck.

I think several people have mentioned the lg 8600.
Its pretty slim for a flip phone.

Maybe wait for the RAZR 2 to launch in Canada in the future?
Suppose to be slimmer and sturdier then the the original.

yeah, there in the threads. there are several pics of the yellow one cracking from members here and there is also a link to some chinese site showing pics.
