'Lord of the Flies' is not really about the discontents of civilisation: it is about barbarism and its discontents. The final rescue of the boys (those who survive) by sailors in a disciplined service overtly suggests that order, discipline and authority are necessary to tame the savage latent in all of us.
For what you are looking for, I suggest two dystopias from the 20thC: '1984' (the Socialist nightmare) and 'Brave New World' (the consumerist nightmare). These provide plenty of contrast and will give you a lot to talk about.
Good luck!
