I am looking to buy a used 1997 Ford Mustang, are there any major faults I should know of/ anythin particular i should watch out for? it has 117,000 kms on the clock and has no rust etc... engine looks to be nice and clean and well looked after and runs smoothly. the car didn't start the first time i tried it but it has been sat in -20 degree temperarures for a couple of weeks at least. is this omething i should worry about?

First off it's not an "LX." The LX badge was never used in reference to an SN95 body Mustang (SN95 meaning 1994 through 1998). It's either just a plain Jane V6, GT, or a Cobra. No LX. Another thing, the last year for a four cylinder in a Mustang was 1993.

The 97 LX is a good little car. The starting problem is due to the cold. You may end up having to put a new battery in it, but the only way to tell is to carry it to a parts store like Advance or Auto Zone and have it tested. The LX is like many of the other Ford products if it's a 4 cylinder 5 speed. The borg-warner transmission is a fare trans but will not take a lot of abuse, so treat it accordingly. Other than this I can't think of any reason not to buy it.
