Everyplace I go they want to put my car on a "diagnostic machine" and charge me $ 150 for it. They claim that they can best dianose the problem. RThen they fix something that is not the problem only to brimg it back ti " fix" the mreal problem . A small job can cost upwards of $500. Example. My 1992 van broke a serpentine belt- simple huh. NO!!! They put on a belt that was too big. When i pointed it out they said that is the one in the book. The van threw th belt again so they Claimed that my power steering pump was leaking and that caused the belt to come off. they replaced the pump and guess what the belt came off again. They claimed i gave then the wrong engine size and they put on the correct size belt. When I asked aboyut the pump they said i needed it any way and that did cause the belt to come off. What should have cost about $ 50 bucks cost me $600. $ 100 for the belt- $150 for the pump and 350 for labor. I just want a mechanic who won't rip me off?
