Are there any cutting machine like the Cricket Expression that are just as good

but not as expensive? I want to get the Cricket Expression as a gift for either my sister or her daughter, but I was reading a review about it and it sounds like it would be too expensive to for them to use, meaning the review said that all of the cartridges that you have to buy for it are more expensive than the actual device. So I am looking for a craft cutting device that is just as good as the Cricket Expression but has accessories that aren't as expensive. Please help.
 
I recently found out about the Silhouette SD. It seems to be a less expensive machine that connects to the Internet where you download designs and patterns to it for around $1 per pattern. It sounds like a great little machine and I plan to check it out in real life myself as soon as it arrives int he stores in Australia.
