I live in China and want to ride a bicycle but like in many places theft is a major issue. I know in the West there are several security companies who will not only track your bike for you if it gets stolen but they'll actually go retrieve it as well, removing the risk involved in chasing the guy who just stole your bike.
I found online that a company in Japan now has this service but I can't seem to locate anything in China. I know the local police stations have a serial tagging system but that only really works if the bike is stolen and then later retrieved by police. I'll still register my bike with them just in case but the chance of a stolen bike turning up at the police station seems slim.
It's likely that I'll be buying a more expensive road / hybrid bike for long trips to and from school every day so I'm hoping I have options for protection.
