Are there any advantages to the 'neo-liberal' approach to development?

I am studying Development Studies and we have been learning about the many disadvantages of the neo-liberal policy introduced in the 70s and 80s, but I would like to know if anyone thinks that there are any positives to that particular approach to development? Thank you in advance
