i have a 1994 jeep cherokee i just bought the specs are I6 4.0 4x4 with chrysler rear end 223,xxx miles. it smokes alot i was told the oil or piston (cant remember) rings were bad and that i should just get a new engine. Theres a good bit of smoke coming out the exhaust, the oil guage stays relatively in the middle while cruising when accelerating it gets higher with the rpms only when accelerating, and i havent noticed any change in the oil level since i did the oil change 500 miles ago.
i think i meant to say O-rings or they could be the same i have no idea i just need help lol
to drew lawrence, the last time i sat there and watched it, it was white smoke also (if it means anything) when you rev it it seems to go away doesnt get worse or anything. another thing i just remembered sometimes at traffic lights i notice it smokes more than other times, quite a bit more but then the reset of the day its fine just normal smoking.

Piston rings go bad on any engine, they keep room from the piston hittin the cylinder wall and also maintain pressure. You need a new engine, or a used one in better condition
