Are the sometimes violent scuffles we have seen lately likely to help Tibet or actually harm their cause? Is it a good way to highlight the human rights issues in Tibet or will it make people angry and less likely to assist? Will it make China listen? What do you think?

I may be biased because i think everyone should have stepped in when china first took over Tibet but i think it will make the cause greater and show that China isn't exactly the nicest to it's Tibetan civilians. hopefully over time people will begin to see that their rights are not being given to them. I think the only thing that would make China listen to the Tibetan's outcries is boycotting of the Olympics by a few influential countries, boycotting of Chinese exports and maybe force.

I am wondering if the protests will have the opposite effect of what is intended. China has always been a country that has promoted self-reliance and non-involvement with other countries. Unless it is for economic benefit, they have a real hands-off, isolative attitude. They do not like outsiders meddling in their way of doing things. I'm concerned that after they have hosted the Olympics (intended to show-off their country), they will become even more isolated and closed off to the rest of the world. I am sure this has been humiliating for them. I hope I am wrong!
