They save electricity - that's good. But.. one's just gone dud after about 3 months use. After expiry it gave off a nasty smell. I don't know if this is mercury vapour, but obviously I'm not taking any chances as mercury is very toxic, so all my ventilator fans are on. Although the box has a warning sign on it telling you not to dispose of it normally, my council probably doesn't offer a service to recycle them safely.
