are the honda 400cc shadow bikes any good?

for a learner (first bike) or will it be to heavy he weighs about 80kgs i'm not sure if that matters or not. Are there any other cruisers that would be good for a first bike or is this one fine. In aus we have restrictions as to how powerful the bike can be i think it goes up to 600cc. Thanks
