If you get married anywhere else, say, Norway, Spain, South Africa, Netherlands, or Belgium.............then your marriage would only be recognized in 5 U.S. states:
NY, RH, NM, MA, CT.
But articles I've read seem to indicate that Canada is the exception to the rule..........U.S. & Canada honor each other's marriages, and sources seem to indicate that a Canadian same-sex-marriage would be valid in all 50 U.S. states. Does that sound correct?
Not true Amber; NM & RI also recognize foreign same sex marriage along with NY.
Wikipedia has an error on their site stating that it's only NY.
Amber: Ok, if you didn't get it from wikipedia then where did you get it from?
For some reason it's not widely known that NM & RI also recognize foreign same sex marriage, but I have researched this and I know it's true.
I called the Auburn University info line to verify this.

Click on that link, it will show a map and the states in light-blue indicate they recognize foreign same sex marriage according to the key.
neh: ok why does this article say otherwise?:

"American couples, different-sex or same-sex, may go to Canada to marry."
"When couples who marry in Canada come home -- they will be as married as any people on the planet."
