...idiots? I was watching "Only You" last night. Marisa Tomei is engaged to a successful, stable guy, so she decides to call off the wedding in favor of searching an entire country for a man whose name showed up on her Ouija Board when she was eleven. In the end, she ends up marrying a man who lied about his name to get with her instead. The fcuk kind of dumbass twaat does that?
 
It's for the same reason that men are often portrayed as dim-witted in sitcoms: it gets a laugh, which is handy when you're writing a comedy. The behaviour is exaggerated because that's funnier than everyday life.
