I've always been interested in such subjects, but there is quite a bit of difficulty in finding others my age willing to discuss them with me. I'm 14 right now, and this problem plagues me; at school no one is truly interested in either.
I'd like to have interesting philosophical debates with other students my age, but teachers are the only ones who seem to find the subject as enthralling as I do. I suppose this is quite standard, as most people in my school would rather talk about less intellectually stimulating topics.
This situation is aggravating, to say the least. What are your opinions on the current society that looks down upon such thoughts (seriously, if I were to ask someone to question their 'reason for being', they'd respond to me with a less-than-stellar veiled insult.)
Also, do you think higher-level thinking and questioning such as this is appropriate, or even standard, for 12-14 year old's?
