I have a '97 Chevy Venture. The local parts stores tell me that these motors were designed to run with platinum plugs, and not with standard copper plugs. Anyone know about these plugs, or use standard plugs in this motor? How much of a difference in performance would there be using standard plugs? I prefer to get OEM AC plugs but I don't want to spend 3X the amount if I don't really have to.
A few points to clarify...
it calls for the AC Delco Platinum plugs ($6 each). Those are listed as OEM. I want to find out if using a standard AC plug ($2 each) will give me about the same performance. I'm specifically looking for feedback from those who may have used a standard plug when OEM calls for platinum...especially this motor. Whether I get platinum or not I would buy AC.
