for their education? Ok, here's just some background info on me. im a senior in high school and im at that point where im am thinking about what i want to do with my life. i have a 3.8 gpa and i got a 31 on my act. i have always wanted to join the military in either the navy or the air force but my parents do not want me to enlist or even join the armed forces at all, and they would not pay for any education if i did rotc or went to one of the academies. but it is still something that i really want to do, and i feel somewhat obligated to do so because of the sacrifice our soldiers have made in the past. my dream would be to become a pilot in the navy or the air force but i know that the only way to do that is to become an officer and to do that i know that i would either have to go to either of the academies, enroll in rotc, or go into officer candidate school. since i know that my parents would not pay for me to go the either of the academies, it seems to me that my only options to achieve my goals are to enroll in rotc or try and get into officer candidate school after college. however, i doubt i would be able to afford school without help from my parents. this brings me to my question, if my parents are paying for my education, are they allowed to forbid me from joining the rotc? and do i have to get their permission to join the rotc at all? or am i allowed to enroll regardless of what they say since i will be 18?
