Are NFL tickets to an away game a good idea?

Just wanting to know if tickets to an away game for my boyfriends bday present is a good idea considering if we went to a home game we'd have to fly there, and, it would just cost me an arm,..so i was thinking of going to a away game because then we could just drive there, stay at a hotel, go to the game, good or nah?
