Are Newsgroup speeds better than other filesharing methods?

Im on NTL mate, ive got the 2meg and it maxes out my connection at 240k a second.

The news servers are ok, pretty good for free. Its all I use now. I only download movies though from alt.binaries.movies.divx. There seem to be a few missing parts with each movie but these can be re-created with .par files. They seem to have about a weeks retention (maybe 5days, im not at home and I cant remember off hand)

Where are the good ftp sites then?thier hard to find and most if they are good have have to trade and stuff so elaborate please what makes them better more files?more speed? i seriously doubt it because you have to pay for some ftp top sites to and what if that topsite dont have what you want then you have to join another right?Can you pm me an excellent ftp for 0day porn releases that has some of the files from the tehserver.us?Thank You Edit: I see newsgroups are the best afterall.
 
Your all very lucky...Im on cablevision and they (i believe) have there speeds cap. As i only get 150k of my 1200 that i paid for....So sad So very sad!!!!!! The only time I see my speeds max out is downloading updates and misc files from webpages!!!

Haha you are wrong - he was talking about topsites.
You only get access if the scene wants you to get access and you deserve it, i.e. become part of a top warez group.

They are the root of (almost) all warez. Often on GigE or 100mbit FTPs and with less people using them so just like newsgroups you get really really fast speeds.
You get all of the files first because that is where the scene releases them.

Often some topsites specialise in certain types of files - but there are some Big Archive sites around - have you ever read an nfo file they often mention the software the FTP was running on and the scripts. glFTPd? Hoops topsite scripts? (etc...)
And they are all sort of connected to be honest - what gets released in one gets couriered into one of the others etc...

Not that I know anything.
 
My 10Mbyte connection :01: ps. 8+ hours download time because i have more DVD's in que.

Yep, you'll almost always max your connection.
 
I have a 10 meg line, I max it on usenet, I don't need anything else.

Having said that I also use BT for stuff I can't get on usenet.

Or Soulseek sometimes.

I don't really fancy the idea of connecting to FTP sites where the big nobs hang out. It just seems too much like drawing attention to yourself.
 
Helllll....ya....It is da best!!! I max out my connection and to d/l a 4.7GiB DVD movie takes around 2 hrs and 20 mts....but if I use other ways...it can take anywhere from 6 hrs to 1 week!!!

That application is Newsleecher. It'd be nice if that was all there was to that program, however there is ALOT of crap he cut off for that image.


*Bright idea- Someone should make a Newsleecher lite version; N-lite! :ph34r:
Just cut out all the article reading crap and make it's sole purpose NZB grabbing.
