I don't respect college professors.To quote the Joker: "Not...one...bit."Most of them are idiots. I subbed for a special education teacher today. The aide told me one of the teachers was going back to college to get a doctorate in Education. She didn't want to teach special education in schools anymore. I said to the aide, "If she doesn't want to teach in schools anymore, why should she teach students in college how to do this job?" To me, that doesn't make sense. She clearly couldn't hack this job, it is hard, mind-numbing and generally not satisfying mentally. That to me seemed like sort of a cop out. When I was in college, I ran into several professors or teaching assistants that were simply trying to escape from the real world. Most of them were the biggest egomaniacs, who thought the field of "Biological Anthropology" was the most prestigious field in the world. Philosophy teaching assistants and professors are the biggest idiots of all.Now, I had some professors that genuinely were teachers first, and I respected that. But there are too many who are burnouts or hacks looking to escape the real world, trying to teach subjects they clearly weren't good enough to master in a practical environment.I wish I knew what I knew now, before I went into college my first day.I make an exception for math and engineering professors, although many of those guys really are burnouts and hacks. Many are terrible teachers.
