I'm having an argument w/ a friend about global warming. He says that we have only been able to take accurate temperatures for 87 years since the invention of the non-mercury thermometer. He says that mercury thermometers were consistently off 6 -13 degrees because of its response to humidity. Now i can't find anything on this and I'm wondering if this is true. Also how do we get temperatures from before two years ago and are they accurate?
Thanks!
Sorry i said "how to get temperature from before two years ago" i meant before two hundred years ago. Thanks.
