in the UK? When I read through news websites, Northern Ireland seems to have a higher record of crimes that make you cringe than anywhere else in the UK or Ireland. I wanted to ask without seeming insulting, is insanity more prevalent there and if so, what are the factors and causes of this.

However, I think your mooted "explanation" is simplistic and sounds like a case of the tail wagging the dog to be honest. The actual reasons are extremely complex and beyond the scope of a Yahoo answer.
