are mares close to foaling really spooky? shes usually a calm mare?

I bought this mare last week. She still had her 18mth old filly with her. I dont know for sure shes bred but she was like a round barrel last week today she is narrower but closer to the ground. all day she has been real spooky and when I fed she would stand and eat. She would grab a bite and run off snort and come back
