I don't know what to wear for a hiking trip tommorrow! I have a pair of shorts but my mom says I'll get scratches from walking with bare legs. She told me it would be okay to go with regular jeans since they make it easier, but I don't know! Which ones should I choose?

Please answer quickly and simply. I really gotta go soon!
PS: I also have leggings that reach a little bit above my ankles. Maybe they will be best?

If it's going to be cold, or you think you might be walking through an area that has ticks and other parasitic bugs, you probably want pants. If it's going to be hot or you're going to get wet you'll want shorts. Either choice is fine, though. It really just depends on what you think you'll feel more comfortable in.

Jeans will do if that is all you have and they are definitely better then shorts. Your mother is right about them.

Jeans tend to get hot and if they get wet they hold the water which can make them uncomfortable if you sweat or if you need to cross a creek (or fall down and get wet). If you have any cotton pants or something where the moisture will wick away from you then they may be a better choice. If not, go with the jeans then.

jeans are perfect for hiking !

i would never wear shorts, unless it was like 100 degrees and there weren't too many sharp shrubberys
