Are humans really any better than a family of chimpanzees squabbling in a zoo enclosure?

If we take 5 random guys and 5 random women - strip them naked and throw them in a cage together (just like the chimpanzees) - wouldn't they soon be squabbling and mating with each other and generally behaving like apes? Is civilisation a fascade?
