Are House Fires on TV Real or Lighting Effects?

I was on digital spy looking at the behind the scenes photos of the queen vic fire on eastenders and theres a picture of the filming crew outside the pub but it wasn't on fire, I think the must have been filming because the door was hanging half off so I was wondering, will they have actually set it on fire or just use lighting effects
