I am getting ready to activate my service, but I am trying to figure out the packages. Bell's website is completely unclear and it even gives different information on different pages. I called them up and was more confused when I got off the phone.

I was planning on getting the HD essentials package which includes 4 or 5 theme packs depending on which page of bell's website your reading. I plan on getting the following theme packs:

News & Learning 1
News & Learning 2
Sports 1
Variety 1
Variety 2

After to talking to some guy at bell on the phone (sounded clueless) he made it seem that even though the theme packages I wanted included discovery, tsn, rogers, etc., that I would still need to pay up to $15 dollars extra to get them in HD. is this true? I thought that as long as you subscribe to a channel you should get the channel in HD for free if it is available.

I think the most clear and accurate list is here.

Scroll down about 3/4 of the way down the page to where it says "High Definition Programming" on a grey background, and click the "Show" link.

Some HD channels are free, some are free if you subscribe to the equivalent SD channel, and some must be purchased in HD theme packs.
HD theme packs are $5 each or 4 for $10, so if you want all 5 it's $15.
