I keep hearing people complaining that ducati bikes break down rather easily and that spare parts are expensive. Should i get a japanese bikes instead?

Ducati is a brand name and been in business for many years. Its really a matter of chice what you buy,,and how you maintain it.
theres probably more jap outfts than ducatti in the u.s.

My daughter has two Ducati's, both 750's. I've ridden and maintained my own bikes for years, mostly Japanese bikes. The Ducati's perform very well but are engineered in some unique ways, especially in the motor and valve train area. It is good to use a mechanic with experience with these bikes and have him/her show you how to do the maintance. If they are not maintained they will give you problems much more so then their Japanese counterparts. Parts, yes they cost more.
