Are clown fish okay along?

I just got a tiny baby clown fish, he's seriously the size of my finger nail (so cute) =p... and well he's all along in my 46g reef tank except for a few crabs(that only come out at night) and a conch..
Is he okay living all along?? Should I go get another baby clown fish friend for him??
OH!!!! and I haven't got him an anemone yet!! which the guy at the store said will be okay... But are the night time crabs going to eat him!?!?!?
 
You should add another small clownfish, about the same size. In nature, clownfish are used to having many fish surrounding them. And clownfish don't need an anemone to survive. Infact, there are tales of captive bred clownfish dying when introduced to an anemone because they didn't have the mucus that protects them from the sting. Anemones are challenging to keep, even for experienced aquarists. Collecting them is also very bad for the reefs.
 
your actually better not getting an anemone, you really need strong lighting and a well established aquarium.

But you can pair him with another clownfish. tradtionally you would want a larger clownfish but since it is so small your best getting one the same size. probably a tank raised because of the size.

But clownfish do well and even breed without anemones, your best not getting one.
