Are clam shells sharp for betta fish?

I'm trying to find out what is causing my betta to have ripped fins! (might be fin rot!)

I have a live plant which is not sharp at all.
Some times he just goes crazy in his temporary bowl and after a few seconds later he goes back to normal!

He is living in a temporary tank because my cat knocked over his 2 gallon vase. The other 2 gallon tank is plastic and i am using it temporarily for my 2 5cm goldfish since i am waiting for my cousin to lend me her 10 gallon. After my cousin lends me her 10 gallon, I will place my betta in that tank.

My betta's tail seems to be very ripped up! It is also spit in 2 but when i got him it was only 1 piece. His tail seems to be quite small too!

I just cleaned out his bowl yesterday! (This is kind of a small bowl so i clean it 3 times a week!)
He's 70% of the time swimming fine until he goes bezerk!
I am very afraid. Should i go to the store to buy the medication right now?
I mean temporary bowl*
no i am not keeping him with the goldfish. (for people who think i am)

Are you keeping him WITH the goldfish?

Goldfish produce high amounts of ammonia that will stress alot of regular tropical fish out, including your betta, which will cause him to damage himself.

Put him into a seperate bowl and pour some stress coat in.

If he isn't with the goldfish, make sure your plant is compatable for him, and put in a dab of stress coat, he is probably just stressed since I can't see anything else, and thus- is tearing himself to pieces.

You can also find medicine at the nearest petstore for ripped fins. Try putting a bit of aquarium salt in as well.

Good luck!
