are chat rooms safe cause....?

i was talking to a boy. he told me how old he was and he was 2 years older than me. i didn't tell him how old i was and we talked for a bit. then he said he had to go and asked me if i wanted his number. i said sure and he gave it to me. should i txt him...no i'm not gonna! he lives all the way across the country!
 
Well.. let me answer this in bits.

1) Are chatrooms safe? - no. you never know who your really talking to, and you should NEVER give out any person info. (ie- phone numbers, adresses,ect.)

2) You can text him if you want to, if he lives all the way across the country then no harm will come of it.

Rule of thumb is go ahead and talk to him if you want, just don't give anything out to him, or really do anything that may jeopardize your identity.
