Are career centers in college normally this awful?

I brought in my resume and a student worker looked at it and told me that I absolutely have to make it 1 page. I thought to myself, why does it matter? I have included all of the relevant information about myself, I wish you would just go over the stuff that matters, like wording, content, etc. but she just insisted on focusing on making it one page. Anyway, I finally got it down to 1 page, and did all the other things she asked of me, and then brought it back, and they told me that I did it wrong, and nobody who worked there would have ever told me to do it like that?? WTF? Are college career centers normally like this?
 
Yes they are. My best advice is to always make your resume 1 page, as a prospective employer has dozens to look through, and they don't want a term paper from everyone to read. Be short, sweet and concise. There are templates on your Word or Open Office software to guide you. Good luck!
