My cairn terrier gets very afraid of things i wouldn't expect him to get afraid of. He thinks hes this hugh dog and even his bark sounds like it. But when it comes to things like a fire alarm or even an iron hes gets afraid. One day, my dad was cooking dinner for us, and whatever he was making caused alot of smoke which set the fire alarm to go off. My dog, who doesnt really like to jump on mine or my sisters lap usually, jumped like something was about to attack him. When we tired to put him down he like grabbed onto us with his claws and shakes like hes about to have a heart attack. Even when someone tries to iron something, he gets veryyyy scaredd. He doesnt like to go outside unless someone goes with him, and when we iron he bolts out the door. He often throws up from this too, im guessing because of his nerves. I'v tired looking up this type of behavior online with this kind of breed, but it looks like noone else has had this problem. So does anyone know why this is happening?
