I use to work at Sears in the bike department and you usually took home the model, for it usually was the only one there. When a stock came in we usually just built all the bikes and put them out (our store had a small backroom so other stores might have a bigger backroom).
Since it is conceded a seasonal product we were always told to make sure all bikes are out because usually there was not enough man power to build a bike on the spot for a customer.
But talk to the store they may or may not still have the model in a box that they can build for you.
