Are any poets here fans of NFL football?

This poem was inspired by the memory of the finest group of goal line defenders ever to wear a Saints uniform...

For these men the score was immaterial, there was only a job to do, protect every blade of grass in front of the goal line from intrusion.

"They were the Dome Patrol"......

There was a time, there was a day

when savage instincts ruled the field

without mercy did those gladiators play

they gave not ground, nor did they yield...

The turf was their kingdom, was their home...

They guarded it against foes, patrolled the Dome.
