Are all of the reality tv dance shows ultimately good for dance or bad? I want some

I think Dancing with the Stars is obnoxious, personally. It's more of a show that non-dancers watch though as a form of entertainment by seeing relatively unknown celebrities attempt to ballroom and latin dance. I also think all of the other "dance with your mom" (or something like that) and the "dance your ass off" shows are rediculous too. They serve no point and they don't even have talent and made the art/sport of dance look bad. They make it look like anyone can just dance for five minutes and be considered good. Despite the fact that most people on those shows don't have talent and aren't good. And I find that they do focus too much on the drama.

So You Think You Can Dance, however, is a perfect show. I've known many people who have been inspired to begin dancing by watching that show. There are so many talented people in America (and all of the other countries that have the show, and the countries that don't) and they deserve to have their moment to shine, especially since dancers in America never really have their national fame moments they deserve. So many new things have been introduced into the world of dance through that show, and it's made a lot more people appretiate dance. SYTYCD doesn't make it look like talent can be achieved in a short amount of time because almost all of those dancers have been dancing for years and years and had to work incredibly hard to have gotten where they have. Part of dance is tricks and emotion...without emotion, dance looks two dimensional, and tricks always add something to it. The show doesn't distort the life of dancers because all of the contestants are real dancers, live the life of real dancers and have to work incredibly hard each day to improve and learn choreography.

dancers to answer please.? Do the shows provide dancers with more opportunity? Do more people want to dance? Do the shows show a distorted image of a real dances life? Do the shows make it look like dancing can be achieved in a short amount of time? Do they focus to much on tricks and emotion instead of talent?

I watch so you think you can dance (and yes I do dance myself). I think the shows provide immense opportunity if you are wanting to become a famous dancer and I think it does show a correct image of dance. They show a variety of dances and it is possible to learn them that fast but you have to be really talented, focused and practicing 24-7. So it is slightly unrealistic because most people don't have that kind of time to practice, but if you did have the time, it would be possible. About the last part of you question, "do they focus too much on tricks and emotion?" That is what dance is all about, finding new movement or 'tricks' and dances portray emotion whether it's sad, excited, love or whatever else there is always an emotion behind a dance.

If you mean as in the "Dancing with the Stars" then yes, I think so.

If you mean like "So you think you can dance" then I think they do provide good opportunities, now, I don't neccessarily agree with them all the time on a dancer's talent, but they are proffesionals.
