I love that fact that you're thinking Honda, seriously!
I'm such a huge Honda's advocate. I love Honda(s)!
For your first car being a Honda, you can not go wrong.
As far as getting a coupe, even as much as you would like to have one of these. Please inquire about the insurance costs. I own a coupe, a Civic SE. I love it and it's fun to drive. Easy on fuel costs, BUT! the insurance is overly charged. I do not drive a sports car. I drive an economical, two door Honda Civic. I'm a 6 star driver, which means I'm a very good driver, no penalties. But the young people that own these cars "Honda's" have claimed too many accidents and traffic issues with their insurance companies, that have brought the insurance rates sky high, ridiculous, on this type of vehicle, which is classified as a sports car, crazy, I know. I'm bitter over this because I now have to pay the crazy insurance rates. Please rethink at least the two door version. Have you checked out the CRV's? or a four door Honda. In a way I wish I would have bought the CRV because my Civic has hardly any room for anything. No room for my bike or camping stuff. Have you checked the Lemon Aid magazine for owner's opinions and manufacturing recommendations? Research this information at your local library for free. Great choice of a first vehicle. I have kept up with the regular maintenance and mine is a 2000, which owes me nothing. I plan on keeping this sweet ride for a while longer. My son gifted me a stereo system which sounds great. When I'm driving around, listening to my favorite music, who cares what vehicle your driving, but a Honda is my favorite vehicle by far. Just keep up the regular maintenance. Oh, very important as well! get your vehicle(s) undercoated as well. $60 bucks every other year or so, will extend the life of any vehicle for the long run. Keep all your maintenance receipts for selling privately, you'll have a much better chance getting the price your asking for. Oh another thing. I am a Automotive service advisor by trade, when you feel the steering wheel pull to one side, get this checked and fixed, usually around the time of route rotation I get them to re-align my wheels. A lot cheaper then having to do the wheel bearings and all the other extra charges just because you didn't spend the extra 25. bucks to re-align. When parking, keep your wheels straight, not cocked. Easier on the wheel components. On-line has so many tricks and tips for you to be wise about your vehicle.
