I'm a big Arai pusher now, having smacked the pavement several times with mine in the deer wreck.

Thanks for the video Confederate. Hope you're doing OK.

I've heard many people say that Arai makes the best helmet. They're all I've ever used. I haven't crash tested one yet and it'd be OK if I never do . . .

LOL, "Chewy nougat center". Good vid, thanks.

To bad Arai's are overpriced, don't fit oval heads like mine and the shields fog up so bad they're worthless below 60 degrees and in the rain.

Hey ten-6, my heads what Arai calls a long oval.
The Profile Arai fits best I've ever tried. Though I'm sure there are other helmets on the market that are designed for our misshapen heads. Arai does make different helmets for different shapes.

Not to sound like an Arai add, but this is from their site. It may be that other good helmet manufacturers
also do this sizing. I'm not getting paid for this add, maybe I should.

1. LONG OVAL
(very long front-to-back, very narrow side-to-side). On this end of the scale, we have the new Profile model, offering additional forehead room for those who find that most helmets have pressure points in the forehead.

2. INTERMEDIATE OVAL
(a little shorter front-to-back and a little wider side-to-side than the Long Oval). This next fit package comes in our RX-7 Corsair model, which begins the shift from oblong towards round.

3. ROUND OVAL
(even a little shorter front-to-back and a little widerside-to-side). This next fit package is represented by both our Quantum-2 and our Astral-X models.

The Astral-X has a slightly more "relaxed" fit - a bit more room in the forehead area - mainly because the Astral has a non-removable liner.

The Quantum-2's liner, on the other hand, is fully-removable, which makes it feel a bit more "round". Be sure to try both on to determine which feelsbetter on your head.

No one pays more attention to the subtle variations and the infinite possibilities of the human head shape than Arai. And even though we know we can never build a perfect shape for everyone, we go to the extra time and expense to make a genuine effort to offer shapes that allow more people to find a better and more comfortable fit than by simply offering one shape in every model.

This is why it's important for you to understand the different aspects of sizing as it relates to brands, models and in Arai's case - interior shapes.

LOL.......What, no stick poke?

Shoei's fit me great and what i usually buy but they're pricey too and they fog bad also. I've been wearing a Scorpion the last couple years, i love the no fog shield, seriously, IT WILL NOT FOG.....PERIOD! You would think for $600 Arai and Shoei could figure this out. The Scorpion also fits great and the price is right.

If you're one of those people that thinks more money = more protection Shark helmets fit oval heads and they say their shields won't fog. I've tried them on and they fit me so I'm probably picking one up for next summer's track days.

After I wadded my 999R wearing a shoei RF900 and did not even have a headache (significant damage to the helmet), my allegiance to quality helmets was reinforced. Got an Arai Rx-7. I have never had any fogging issues, actually quite the opposite, There is more wind inside than I would like at times. Once the wind was cold enough to make my eyes water.
