Hi all I am new to this board so I will explain my history first.

Back in Feburary I hurt my back at work, in March I got that bad I was taken to hospital where the surgeon did a emergency Diskectomy. Since that I have had 3 Disecomties 1 CT Myelgram, countless MRI, CT and X Rays. I have also had a laminectomy and fusion of the L4, L5 area, it had to be cut open again as there was a hudge blood clot around my spinal column and it was cut or torn a couple of times during surgery and finally I thougth was a infection which I had to have a Pic line inserted and heaps of anti biotics after a full week I was alound to go home, this was septeraber.
On the first of Novemebr we celabrated the fact that I hadnt been in hosptial all month.
Not a week later I started to go down hill even aqua was a strugle and my water works have started to play up and the feeling of water running down my legs GREAT !!! so went back to my surgeon who promptly ordered a MRI, CT and X Rays. The next day he was going through them with me and found out my fusion is great BUT L5, S1 has bulged, Great but the worst was yet to come when he said I have now a condition called Arachnoiditis, what Spiders in my back ?
SO I am on Dexmethsone 0.5 4 twice a day 4 tabs and Nupentin 300 twice a day and only one pill it seems to make a difference but I mowed the lawn yesterday and am very stiff and a bit sore.

PHEW !!!!!!

So who out there has this crappy thing.

I was thought to have arachnoiditis a few years ago but that turned out to be not true. The neurologist told me that if I had arachnoiditis surgery was out of the question and that pain management was the only alternative. Surgery can make it worse. They actually have come to believe that a lot of so called failed back syndrome case are actually cases of arachnoiditis. There are support forums on the net if you google for them. I wish you well and hope you begin to feel better.

Hello, and welcome to the HealtrabroadoarRAB!! I suggest you type this diagnosis in our search engine above (upper left) and you will find posts about this condition, and merabers who have it. Some posts may be old, so don't post to those. Good Luck!!....janiee08
