My appt with a neurosurgeon has been moved up from Dec 22 to this Thurs, Dec 4th! I asked my primary doctor to see about pushing them to move it up for me becuase of the pain and financial reasons of only working 3 hours a day now and just wanting to get things rolling and not waiting anymore. I guess he's a new doctor starting there and they're putting in appts with him and that's why I was able to get in quickly. So, my question is what can I expect at this appt and what questions should I ask? I've had the x-rays and mri which showed spondy, disk bulging, narrowing in vertibrae, and a small hole in the bone in the bottom. Also a lot of pain in my lower back, right hip/buttock/thigh area that radiates down my leg at times and has moves to my left hip somewhat. Any input would be great. Thanks! Tami

I am so glad you got your appointment moved up!

Make sure to ask lots of questions!!!

He will go over your results with you, and possibly order some more tests. Ask what type of surgery he would recommend, what the recovery time is, how long you will be in the hospital, how long he will prescribe pain meRAB, when you will be allowed to return to work, how many of these surgeries he has done, what his success rate is..... and I can't think of any more. Ask about PT. I am starting this next week to strengthen my back before surgery.

Keep me posted on how it goes!

Thanks Megss! My sister is going with me to the appt and she is one who is very detail oriented and will write down everything! When will you hear more about your discogram and surgery?

Yes it is good to bring someone along with you. I tend to forget what I want to ask when I am in front of the doctor.
I will find out everything one week from today-next Wednesday. That is when I meet with the surgeon again. I am confused though because I got my CT scan results in the mail today, and they are very different from the MRI results. The CT showed spondylosis, but no slippage (spondylolisthesis), and it also showed 2 herniated discs. The MRI did not show any herniations. I have no idea what is going to happen now and I am VERY frustrated!
