I am a junior in college. I am not doing as well as I had hoped to. I have a lot of stuff going on both academically and personally. (I am seeing someone for the personal stuff). Anyways, in one of my classes, we have a weekly "random" selection of students to come up to the front of the class and answer questions based off the reading. it is to be answered at face value, but we are also suppose to be able to take the position of various people in the situation (oil mining- so that of the native which has to work, the oil company ceo, local government, and so forth....)
i have a bit more of a healthy fear of public speaking, and the "chance" that i would be selected will only add onto my stress which is at high levels regardless. and just having to be super prepared is another stressor...
and i understand that all college students are under stress and wish not to speak in front of the class.
(???) i am looking for feedback on if it would be worthwhile saying something to my prof at his office hours. to let him know where i am in life, and just explain things. and request not to be called on *I am doing the work, and he knows that. So i am just not trying to blow it off.* i mean it doesn't hurt to ask right?
