Currently I am a senior in highschool. I have been accepted to quite a few colleges so far but i have some questions about later on after college how to apply to Cornell University.
Cornell University requries these classes to be considered even for the veterinary program,
General chemistry with laboratory (full year) 6
Organic chemistry with laboratory (full year) 6
Biology or zoology with laboratory (full year) 6
Microbiology with laboratory 3
Biochemistry (full year preferred) 4
Physics with laboratory (full year) 6
English composition and literature* (full year) 6
Other credits (minimum needed to add to 90 credits)
Total semester credits 90
1st Year English Compostion and Literature
Biology(or Zoology) I and II with labs *
General Chemistry I and II with labs *
2nd Year
Organic Chemistry I and II with labs *
General Physics I and II with labs
Calculus (recommended, not required)
3rd Year Biochemistry (half-year; lab recommended, but not required; 4 semester credits)
Microbiology with lab (half year; 3 semester credits)
MY QUESTION IS : Do i have to be in a prevet program to later go on to veterinary school? Or can i take all these required classes in a college that dosent have a prevet program and still apply to Cornell?
Im confused because someone told me i have to be in a 4 year prevet program then 4 more years of vet school.
But would it make a difference if i simply took all of Cornells required classes + maintain a good gpa?
Will they care if im not in a prevet program but want to apply to vet school?
Or should i just be safe and go to a college with a prevet program?
